Governor's P2 Awards Overview

Since 1987, the Illinois Waste Management and Research Center (WMRC) has worked with the Illinois Governor's office to recognize outstanding pollution prevention efforts. These annual awards are presented to businesses and organizations in Illinois that have helped the environment and the economy of Illinois by successfully reducing the generation of gaseous, liquid, and solid waste.

Any Illinois public or private business or organization is eligible to apply for an award. Continuous Improvement Awards also are awarded to companies that have shown an ongoing commitment to pollution prevention. Applicants will be evaluated in one of the following categories:

1. Small, Medium, or Large Business/Industrial Facility
2. Vendor/Supplier
3. Community Group (trade associations,non-profit organizations)
4. Educational Institution (K-college)
5. Service Organization (such as medical,military, government, etc.)

2008 Governor's P2 Awards Timeline:

• May 19, 2008 - Application deadline
• June - July 2008 - Application review and on-site review
• July - August 2008 - IEPA compliance check
• August 2008 - Finalists notified
• October 23, 2008 - Awards ceremony held at the Abbington in Glen Ellyn

• Free for past award winners and finalists
• $75 for non-previous winners
• Fee covers 8 foot display space, 6 foot skirted table, continental breakfast, and awards luncheon.
