Community Involvement

• Sponsored a free, 2-day used tire collection
• The Rock Island Arsenal (RIA) signed three levels of regulators to partnerships.

Technical Assistance

• The installations have identified the following priority areas for P2: vehicle maintenance/repair, medical facilities, small arms shooting ranges, painting/coating operations and battery management
• P2 opportunity assessments have been performed at the following installations: Illinois Army National Guard - Camp Lincoln (vehicle maintenance shop and firearms cleaning) and Army Aviation Support Group (various maintenance shops, electronic shop, avionics and engine repair).

• Sponsored environmental tours at:
  • Scott Air Force Base - hazardous material pharmacy, vehicle maintenance facility, compressed natural gas distribution facility, and recycling center.
  • Illinois Army National Guard Headquarters - Camp Lincoln
  • Illinois Waste Management and Research Center - solvent substitution lab, ultra- and micro-filtration pilot testing facility, laboratory facility.
  • Rock Island Arsenal - metal plating, finishing and fabrication manufacturing lines.
  • Construction and Engineering Research Lab - testing facility.
  • Great Lakes Naval Training Center - dental facility mercury containing amalgam separation, hospital lab, recycling center, hazmat pharmacy.
  • Illinois Army National Guard Center in North Riverside - vehicle maintenance, painting, and weapon cleaning.
• Created case studies format to allow the installations to share information and promote technology transfer
• Established an e-mail distribution list to periodically update members on new P2 developments
• Developed a website to publicize P2 activities to the public
